Title says it all.
Two main gripes about the redesigned app. First, page numbers are gone. Big mistake. Second, in the old version when you opened the app it took you to the place you left off. With the new version it takes you to the beginning. Bigger mistake. The content is, as before, top-notch. Bottom line, not recommended.
Keeps going back to magazine cover instead of staying on article and does not keep place in article. Horribly frustrating. So many other magazines have mastered this, why not The Atlantic?
Dont waste your time! Every time I download issues, the app locks. Deleting.
What happened? I cannot log in. I get in an endless loop of being asked to log in but cannot. Ive bee a print subscriber since 1991 and am really annoyed by this updated app. Go back to the previous version until these errors are fixed.
The only thing missing for me is the ability to highlight.
Doesnt show download progress. After clicking download, wasnt sure if downloading or not until about a minute or so later when open/delete showed up. Likewise once downloaded, the app freezes up and wont open the magazine. Owners of the magazine need to refund everyone who purchased magazines through the app.
On my iPad Air the app is virtually unuseable. You really must WANT to finish the article to persevere. Would give the Atlantic a pass untill the app is redone.
Will not download purchased issue. Alternatively Locks up or closes. As close to a fraud as there can be. Dont download.
Hard to use. Does not give access to back issues except at an outrageous price.
Cant access back issues, old online articles. Cant search archives. Cant even easily review the app; my review was rejected because my "nickname was already in use" (by me). Truly the worst magazine app I have come across. I much prefer the previous version. Now I have decided to use web browser access and forget about this app.
Besides being disorganized this thing is continually asking for my account number off the mailing label. Like I travel with a hard copy so I can read on my iPad. Really annoying. Seriously whats the point if I cant use this on the road. Ask it once, fine. This is awful. It was good before. Update: it is now even worse. Since I have the label I tried once more. It tells me "success!" And doesnt allow me to access anything. Worst app ever. Doesnt even exist.
I used to enjoy this magazine app but today I deleted it because Im always prompted to have daily emails sent to me and there is no way to get back to your article....
I recommend sticking to the print edition until these guys get their act together. The user experience has always tried too hard to be unique and just ended up being confusing. But now the app is SO unstable that its entirely unusable. Ive deleted it and wont be trying it again until the reviews improve significantly. I experienced the same problems a previous poster called out.
What a disaster this App is. All you can do after paying is take a survey on how to improve the app, a Ten Minute survey. Here is my suggestion. Fire the top twenty people in your digital team. I deleted the app, it just is too aggravating. For every article it wants me to sign in, and signing in doesnt help either.
Cant link my print subscription. Says I have linked but doesnt bring up new issues. UGGGGGG.
03 Sep 16 It gets worse. The app is the antithesis of functional/intuitive. I dont understand how such mediocrity passes for acceptable in 2016. If you cannot match technology with your journalistic standards, stick to paper. Better still, take a look at what The Economist does and copy.
I have an active print subscription, but I cant access any issues from the past 5 months with the app.
All I want to is finalize my subscription. It is a total mess and hasnt worked for 2 days.
